A Little Country in the City

This is the 1-2 bedroom upstairs of a classic Cape Cod with a private entrance, full kitchen and bath. The home sits in a large, parklike setting with trees, picnic tables, and a swing. This setting is hidden within a quiet cul-de-sac just beside the popular Burroughs Creek Trail and a childrens' playpark. It is 6 minutes from Downtown or KU, and 3 minutes from K-10.

The spacious bedroom has a queen bed and sleeper sofa and connects to a huge closet (a separate room, in fact, with a futon bed in it). The spacious living room has a breakfast nook, two comfy armchairs with ottoman, coffee table and a 32" flatscreen TV. The bathroom has a clawfoot-tub and a shower ring, while the kitchen has all the essentials--pots and pans, utensils, refrigerator, range, coffee maker, microwave, and a bagel-friendly toaster. While my personal touch can be found in the design and construction of these quarters, and in the little things (such as the Jack London portrait and the Lawrence aerial map); my lifestyle and my bric-a-brac are not underfoot nor in your face--this space is yours.

From the circular driveway you can step out of your car and be on your doorstep. This is a nice, calm neighborhood, and I hope that you will take advantage of the large yard with picnic tables (great for meals, reading and daydreaming), a swing, firepit, and the long, paved trail where Lawrencians love to jog, push strollers and walk their dogs. The garage is the only part of the lot that is not available. If you're here longer than three days you may use the washer and dryer. Aaron, the neighbor next door, is an organic farmer and can often be seen tending his multitude of gardens

House rules
No parties unless you are here long term and we discuss it first.
Please ask your guests to begin making their way home by 10:30 on weekdays and 11:30 on weekends.
Please be considerate of others occupying the downstairs. Usually this is me, but when I have out-of-town business, I may make that space available to other guests like yourself. Don't worry--I or a friend (who also hosts) can be reached and respond to your needs.

Neighborhood
This is the Old East Lawrence neighborhood, great for walks, starry skies (especially from the yard), history, architecture, and local flavor---tradesmen, artists, kids playing, and laid-back porch parties. I don't worry about crime here, and neither should you. The neighbors are quiet and respectful; I try to be as well.
