Two weeks ago, we were at a talk from the Google API Evangelist (quite an impressive job title) at the FZI (Research Center for Information Technology). By the way, this is the institute where Marco is writing his diploma thesis at the moment.

You can find the slides  Patrick Chanezon (the Evangelist) presented in his blog (I thought it is interesting that he is using a wordpress blog, since Google has its own blogging service blogger.com). Furthermore, there is an article (in German) about the event published on the FZI website. The main topics of the talk were OpenSocial and the Google App Engine. The first topic was the main reason for us to attend the talk. OpenSocial seems to be an interesting way to connect to the data and users of large communities. At the moment there are three German websites part of OpenSocial. These are Xing, StudiVZ and amiando (which he pointed out, because they have developed the most advanced OpenSocial application that he has seen so far).
